Natural Dyeing Workshop Exploring Bundle Dye Methods

with Carol Hargus (owner of Art & Soul Design)

Saturday June 8th from 12-2:30pm- only 6 seats available

Bundle Dyeing is a technique of using plant extracts, herbs, flowers, minerals and other natural components to color textiles. This specific workshop focuses on dyeing with silk.

Intimate, Guided Setting. Limited Spaces

In this two hour creative exploration we will be teaching you about silk, the different colors produced from each source, showcasing some patterns we have achieved and guiding you to create a one of a kind masterpiece. This beautiful process is beginner friendly and truly marries science and art together ~

Carol, your instructor is a professional artist with over 30 years of experience working with textiles and fiber art

Each piece is one of a kind. Some designs will look abstract and kaleidoscopic others will have more printed looking leaf designs present. The final product depends on your choices and process.

Silk is Magic

Silk is not only revered for its ability to hold color but is great for your health (filled with 18 amino acids), skin and hair. This anti-bacterial textile regulates temperature, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the colder months. The protein structure is strong and resistant to tears and stains. We source our silk from ethical manufacturers with respect to the laborers and environment.

You will be dyeing two square pieces of silk that can be used as a scarf or as a Tarot Wrap (Japanese Furoshiki Techniques)

We’ll go over a few of our favorite Furoshiki Wrapping Techniques in the workshop (;

After wrapping our pieces up to steam they will need 2-3 hours in the steam basket and then will set for 1-2 days. We encourage you to come back to pick up your piece at your convenience. Shipping is available for out of town visitors.
